The Westwood character
cam caught twosomes, foursomes, and even some threesomes pouring
over books on our first Wednesday back, proof that the Book Buddies
are hard at work building not only their literacy skills but
also their relationships. The budding friendships from the fall
semester seem to be in full bloom by January.
Now in its third
year, our cross-age Book Buddies program isn't exclusive to reading.
These pairs have been seen collaborating on an art project,
sitting side by side in an assembly, helping one another out
at the special events like the Book Fair, and even playing together
on the playground. Kindergarteners pair with second graders
and first graders partner with third-grade students to make these
get-togethers a much-anticipated part of our weekly schedule.
The pictures reflect the program's success; just look at how
engaged these littles ones are in the company of their Book Buddy.
