* 1994 Students create a Time Capsule which was buried at the entrance to Westwood. The capsule is to be opened in 2024.
* 1993 The new wing opens in September.
* 1990's The children of Westwood adopt 250+ acres of Rain forest in the Danen Biosphere Reserve in Panama.
* 1990 Westwood is named Exemplary Performance School in the state of Texas by the Governor's Committee for Educational Excellence.
* 1984 Westwood's Challenge Program is highlighted on a Steve Allen documentary on gifted programsin Texas.
* 1983/84 Westwood students are highlighted on PM Magazine and CBS Morning News for their part in the FHS television production by students.
* 1980 Governor Clements visits the school in response to student requests and to the students' visit to Austin to request help for the 1979 flood victims in Friendswood.
* 1970's Westwood becomes a model school for the PEGASUS/PACE Reading Program and its Math Management Program.
* 1967 Westwood is built with John Ward as Superintendent and Jack Warner as principal. Other principals have been: Jean Wren, Curtis Wilson, Mary Ward, Hazel Johnson, David Dunham, Davanna Roesler and currently serving, Lynn Hobratschk.
