BEAR NIGHT: A WESTWOOD TRADITION

At Westwood, we want our students to develop the joy of reading so that reading for pleasure becomes a lifelong habit. Programs in our library like the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program help us read this goal.Bear Reading

And so does our third-grade BEAR (Be Enthusiastic About Reading) night. In partnership with the PTO, librarians Mrs. Hane and Mrs. Loveless have invited all third graders to read for at least 15 minutes daily from January 8th through February 2nd. Those third-grade students who reach this reading goal (and have good conduct marks) qualify to attend BEAR night on February 22. Scheduled from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm, this fun-filled event offers activities which revolve around books and reading. BEAR. night always results in a great time for the students and serves as a wonderful opportunity for graduating third graders to meet as a family and celebrate their enthusiasm for books and love of reading.
